Since its beginning in 1867 as a home for Civil War orphans, St. Paul’s has depended on the generosity of donors to support and sustain its vital mission. The Ridgewood at Shenango Valley is a collaborative effort between St. Paul’s and UPMC Horizon, both non-profit organizations.
Take a moment to envision how you want to spend your elder years. Traveling, volunteering, relaxing? Now imagine you develop some health issues. Perhaps your family lives far away or you don’t want to depend upon them for help.
You want a place you can go that provides you with the support you need while maintaining as much independence as possible. You want to be able to live a quality life in that place — still doing, going and enjoying what you can. That place is The Ridgewood at Shenango Valley, and it wouldn’t exist without the support of generous donors.
Your gift has the power to enhance our residents’ quality of life and provide peace of mind for those who cannot afford the full cost of their care or accommodations.
There are several ways you can direct your gift to The Ridgewood at Shenango Valley that are shown below. The choice is yours.

The Good Samaritan Fund assists residents who have exhausted their financial resources and are unable to afford the full cost of their care. Residents are never asked to leave The Ridgewood at Shenango Valley for financial reasons. This is made possible through the Good Samaritan Fund.
Don’t know what to get someone who already has everything or doesn’t want anything? Making a tribute gift in their honor is a nice way to commemorate a birthday, anniversary or other special occasion. Often tribute gifts are given in memory of a loved one at their passing as a way to express appreciation for the care they received or to ensure the light of their life lives on beyond their earthly body.
When tribute gifts are made to The Ridgewood at Shenango Valley, a card is sent to the honoree or, in the case of a memoriam, to a loved one to let them know about the gift.
When you give to Life Enrichment, you are donating for music, the arts, special trips, celebrations and other small touches that make life a little richer, a little fuller for our residents.
We often take for granted the joy of sitting outside on a nice day — the sun warming your skin, listening to the birds sing, feeling the wind in your hair, smelling the burgers sizzling on the neighbor’s grill. Everyone regardless of their age and mobility should get the chance to enjoy the outdoors. There is healing and comfort in nature. That is why we have a courtyard at The Ridgewood at Shenango Valley. If you love the outdoors, you can give the gift of nature to our residents by donating for enhancements to our courtyard.
Each year, we work to keep the magic of Christmas alive for our residents by giving each one a special gift to unwrap. For some residents without family, it may be the only gift they receive at Christmas. Any additional funds raised beyond the purchase of the gifts will go to buy items on the resident Christmas wish list.
